Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme is Hosted by  Taking on a World of Words. Just answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses. Please, take some time to visit the other participants and see what others are reading. So, let’s get to it!

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

What am I reading?  Right now I’m working on two books: The Painted Girls by Cathy Marie Buchanan &  Rooms by Lauren Oliver. I’m reading both of them as a part of the #readmyowndamnbooks challenge. I’m also reading Rooms as a part of the Read Harder 2016 Challenge.  And I’m just over half way finished with both!

What did you recently finish reading? I finished Astonish Me by Maggie Shipstead. What a good book I love stories focused on the world of ballet, and this one delivered all of the angst and drama I love. Now, the “big secret” is obvious from the first page and the ending seems to me odd and unlikely, but I loved this book anyway. Read this book if you love ballet drama!

What do you think you’ll read next? Well, its back to something I own either on my Kindle and my bookshelf. The Kindle book will probably be American Ghost by Hannah Nordhaus or Kindred by Octavia Butler. And from shelf Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel, On Beauty by Zadie Smith, or My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante.

Have you read any of the books listed above? What do you think? Do you have any books you’d recommend? Leave comments and links below, and have a great Wednesday.

  1. I’ve been wanting to read some of Lauren Oliver’s books. Her books sound really good and I know they’re pretty popular. Astonish Me sounds really interesting! I’m going to have to check it out. 🙂

  2. I have ‘My Brilliant Friend’ on my shelf. It was a gift from my friend in an MFA program so I have to trust her judgement, haha. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!

      1. That’s the truth! I’m always stuck between feeling guilty reading the books on my kindle when I have literal stacks of print books and feeling guilty I’m reading the print books when I’ve stockpiled digital. Ugh. Down with book guilt!

  3. Love your taste in books! I enjoyed Astonish Me as well – I like a good ballet novel, but I’ve not found very many. Any suggestions?
Station Eleven was one of my favorite reads of this year (along with Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson). I read Kindred a few years ago – excellent read!

    1. Thank you for the compliment. it’s so sweet. I’ll have to compile a list of ballet novels one of these days. I’ll let you know when I do. 😎
Brown Girl Dreaming is on my wishlist at the library. After I manage to put a good size dent in reading the books I own, I plan to check it out as a reward.
