Here is my contribution:

From page 57:

History-obsessed Viv went on to spearhead the insane Boy Georgey New Romantic style: she brought back pirates and gave women a postfeminist thumbs-up on the controversial issue of corsetry. Ultrwacky Viv, who, aged fifty-six, received her OBE from the Queen sans panties, believes that their is nothing more powerful than an alluring courtesan brimming over her basque.

This is a fun collection of essays about unconventional women in pop culture.  A friend gave me this book because she knows I love wacky chicks. Have you read this? Do you agree with me if you have read it? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy Reading!

It was unusual to hear him speak so openly. It wasn’t that their relationship was strained, exactly. It was more that he and Fred seemed to have an unspoken agreement to keep to certain topics. And those didn’t include honest appraisals of their feelings.

This one has been on my wishlist/TBR pile since it was published in 2015. I’m very interested in the expat writers living in Paris between the World Wars. And the couple Gerald and Sara Murphy were a part of that community. So when I found this  book on the sale table at B&N I snapped it up.

Have you read this book and what did you think? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy Reading.

Walking through the rubber estate, he admires the neat rows of slender trees, imported from South America. Each tree has thin cuttings on its trunk and a small cup into which the milky latex sap drips.

That cover! It’s one of the reason I chose this book for my #BOTM choice in January. As with wine labels, I’m a sucker for a pretty book cover.

Darby knew it would hurt; it was gummed up in her hair. Lars had wrapped it lazily around her head, and it was the black electrical kind.

I choose this for my December #BookoftheMonth selection. I want to read this soon. Have any of you read it? What did you think? Let me know in the comments below! Happy Reading.

“Blah blah unprecedented, blah blah sympathies to family, blah blah cooperating with the police to the fullest extent, blah blah reassure our customers. There’s a press release.”

I picked this book because I like the cover. I really don’t know anything about it. Have you read it? What did you think? Let me know in the comments below!

For women, the key always symbolizes entrée to a mystery or into knowledge.

This book has teetered on my TBR for years. I’ve dipped in and out of it but I’ve never read it from cover to cover. I hope to do so soon. So many books, so little time.

From page 56:

there was a small part of Elodie that looked forward to Alistair’s weeks in New York. She missed him, of course, but it was restful in some way knowing that for six whole nights she could stay at her own place, in her own bed, with her own books and favorite teacup, without having to negotiate and explain herself.

I’ve said it before, but I’m such a sucker for a pretty book cover. And I think this is one of my favorites of the past year. And that excerpt! Who hasn’t felt that way on occasion?

Have any of you read this? If so, what did you you think? Is it as good as the cover promises? Let me know in the comments.

Happy reading and happy New Year.
