Here is my contribution:

This book came to me via #BookoftheMonth book box.

From page 56:

They all erupted in laughter. Connell closed his locker and walked out of the room carrying his schoolbag limply in his right hand. He heard the others calling after him, but he didn’t turn around. When he got to the bathroom he locked himself in a cubicle. The yellow walls bore down on him and his face was slick with sweat. He kept thinking of himself saying to Marianne in bed: I love you. It was terrifying, like watching himself committing a terrible crime on CCTV. And soon she would be in school, putting her books in her bag, smiling to herself, never knowing anything. You’re a nice person and everyone likes you. He took one deep uncomfortable breath and then threw up.

I read this book in one sitting back in April. And it is so good. I plan on writing a review & posting it soon. Have you read it? It’s been everywhere lately and the overall consensus seems to be positive. Have you read and what did you think? Is the love for this book justified? Let me know what you think in the comments below, and be sure to leave a link to your Friday 56 while you’re here.

Happy reading!

From page 56:

Movement outside the window caught his eye, and he froze with his feet dangling over the ground. Esme was in his background, hair in a ponytail, wearing baggy floral-print pants—were those Hammer pants?-–and a white T-shirt with no goddamned bra underneath.

This looks so good. It’s been all over bookstagram, book blogs, and Youtube this spring. So, when it came up as a May Book of the Month club pick, well, I picked it. Tell me what you think if you’ve read this in the comments below. And leave a link to your Friday 56 so I can visit you, too.

Happy Reading!

From page 56:

Isra unwrapped her hijab and set it on the bed. She had never once considered not wearing it in public. But standing in front of the mirror, eyeing the long black strands of hair as they wilted off her shoulders, she found herself feeling hopeful again. Perhaps this would be her first taste of freedom. There was no reason to reject it before she had tried it.

This novel seems to be all over book blogs and #bookstagram the last month or so. I’ve yet to read it, but I’m  looking forward to it. Have you read it? What did you think? Let me know in the comments below.

And for everyone in the USA have a great holiday weekend. Happy Reading!

It was unusual to hear him speak so openly. It wasn’t that their relationship was strained, exactly. It was more that he and Fred seemed to have an unspoken agreement to keep to certain topics. And those didn’t include honest appraisals of their feelings.

This one has been on my wishlist/TBR pile since it was published in 2015. I’m very interested in the expat writers living in Paris between the World Wars. And the couple Gerald and Sara Murphy were a part of that community. So when I found this  book on the sale table at B&N I snapped it up.

Have you read this book and what did you think? Let me know in the comments below.

Walking through the rubber estate, he admires the neat rows of slender trees, imported from South America. Each tree has thin cuttings on its trunk and a small cup into which the milky latex sap drips.

That cover! It’s one of the reason I chose this book for my #BOTM choice in January. As with wine labels, I’m a sucker for a pretty book cover.

Have you read this one? What do you think? Did you enjoy it? Let me know in the comments below.

Darby knew it would hurt; it was gummed up in her hair. Lars had wrapped it lazily around her head, and it was the black electrical kind.

I choose this for my December #BookoftheMonth selection. I want to read this soon. Have any of you read it? What did you think? Let me know in the comments below! Happy Reading.
