It’s time for Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. Do visit this fun blog and read all the other lists. It’s a lot of fun and you’ll be sure to add books to your TBR pile. This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is: Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read For The First Time In 2016. I’ve listed the author and the books that introduced me to them. Also, if you click on their name I’ve linked to either their Goodreads page or their website.
So, in no particular order, here is my list of favorite new-to-me authors who I read for the first time ever this year.
Who are your top ten new-to-you authors? What do you think of my list? Let me know what you think in the comments below. Be sure to leave a link to your Top Ten Tuesday list so I can visit your blog.
I’ve been meaning to read Ferrante so really glad to hear you’ve liked it! 🙂

I plan on reading the 2nd in the series in January. I was hesitant because of all the hype, but I really enjoyed it.

Elana Ferrante and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie are ones I need to read.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s novel has floated to the top of my wish list after reading We Should All Be Feminists.

Thank you for a really interesting list – you’re the second person who has recommended Station Eleven, which I tried earlier in the year and just didn’t get. But I’m going to give it another go as I wasn’t necessarily giving it a fair chance…

I think that we aren’t always meant to read books when ever we pick them up? We sometimes have to wait until we are ready before we can like or even love a book? Does that make any sense whatsoever?

Yes! I tend to wait until I’m really in the mood for a book – it’s when I feel I’m FORCED to read something that it never works out well…

Exactly! That’s what I meant. 😀

The only one of these authors I’ve read yet is Schwab (who I love). I just ordered You Will Know Me by Megan Abbott through my Book of the Month subscription which I’m really excited to read so I’m glad to see you liked her writing. 🙂 I also have Station Eleven on my TBR. I really want to read Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie too since I’ve heard sooo many great things about her writing.

How do you like the BOTM subscription? I’m not super thrilled with the two I’m subscribed to and am looking for a new one.

I’ve only gotten a couple of months, but I really like it. It’s great for me because it gets me reading things other than YA since they very rarely have YA selections. I like that it’s easy to skip months, too, since sometimes they don’t have anything I’m that interested in. I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a new box and don’t mind not getting bookish goodies and only getting a book 🙂

These are all new to me authors, though I think I’ve heard of Schwab and I considered reading In a Dark, Dark Wood.

Great picks for this week. I’ve only read V.E. Schwab myself but her Shades of Magic series is my all-time favourite so I’m thrilled to see her on your list! 😀

Emily St John Mandel & V.E. Schwab were both new to me authors this year too! I thought Station Eleven was very unique take on post apocalyptic fiction and A Darker Shade of Magic blew me away!
